3 SECRETS OF A GOOD HISTORY ESSAY

1. ALL SOURCES MUST BE ANALYSED!
You can lose a lot of points by not doing anything with the sources. Believe me, resources are not put there for decoration! When analysing sources, make sure you write something about all the sources. It doesn't matter if it's a text source, a picture, a map, a cartoon - write something about all of them! For example, what you read from professional essay writers it and then draw some conclusions. Never, never quote from the source! No points for that! You get a point if you can summarise in your own words what you read from the table or text and then draw a conclusion. You help the teacher by starting your source analysis sentence with "as we read in the first source...". The teacher will know to look for points for you in the source analysis, and there is a good chance he will find them.

2. FOCUS ON THE BIGGER PICTURE!
At the higher level, you will get little or no credit if you describe the story of the event in great detail. If, for example, your task is to describe the battles against the Turks, and it is a complex essay spanning the ages, it is not worthwhile to go on for 8-10 lines about the events of the Battle of Nándorfehérvár, because it takes up a lot of space and does not get extra credit. Try to write concisely, focusing on the bigger picture. It may be helpful to make an outline, write down the main context of the topic and then incorporate it into your essay.

3. SPELLING, GRAMMAR!
Since the 2017 exam, you can only lose two sub-points per essay for lousy spelling, but at advanced level this is 8 points for four essays. So I suggest that once you have written your essay, you read it several times, and in one of the read-throughs, look for spelling, grammar, stylistic mistakes! There will be spelling dictionaries in each https://essayassistant.net/do-my-homework/ exam room. If you are unsure, walk out to get it and check it yourself!

Writing a really good essay is not easy, but it's not impossible. It's all a matter of practice. Which means that during the preparation period, it's worth writing at least one essay a week and getting it corrected by a tutor. You learn the most from your mistakes.
